MOJANDA LAGOON DAY TOUR
The Mojanda Lagoon Day Tour offers guests the unique experience to summit an easy 4 000 m volcano. Volcan Fuya Fuya is situated in the unspoiled sanctuary of Mojanda Lagoon just above Otavalo. As you hike towards the summit, your guide will point out interesting flora and fauna of this region and ensure that you keep a slow pace. From the top of Fuya Fuya you will be able to see Mojanda lagoon and the surrounding volcanoes on a clear day. Total hiking time is 4-5 hours between 3 800 – 4 200 m in altitude.
Each guest must please bring a copy of their passport.
It is compulsory for guests to have personal medical aid & travel insurance.

This tour is NOT recommended for travelers with heart, lung or back problems.
Travelers should have moderate physical fitness.
Acclimatization: You will be hiking at 4200 m in the Andes. Ensure you have spent at least 2-3 days in Quito before joining this day tour. If you have any doubts or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

What to expect:
Mojanda is located above the town of Otavalo. To get there takes around two hours from Quito.
During the hike, your guide will lead you slowly to the summit of Fuya Fuya (4 200 m). Along the way he/she can point out he interesting flora and fauna or the Andean region. The Mojanda area is tranquil and you will only hear the birds and your own footsteps. The hike takes around 2 hours. But this will depend on your group’s fitness levels. Once on the summit, you can relax, take in the views, and eat your lunch/snacks.
On the way back to Quito, your guide can show you the Taxopamba waterfalls. The walk there takes around 20 minutes.
