Cayambe Climbing Tours

CAYAMBE CLIMBING TOURS

Cayambe is 5 790 m high and is the third highest volcano in Ecuador. It is the highest point on earth that crosses the Equator. Climbing Cayambe is physically easier and the acclimatization period is shorter compared to Chimborazo. Previous glacier experience is needed as there may be many crevasses to navigate on summit day.

Our 6 day Cayambe climbing tour includes acclimatization hikes up 4 000 m volcanoes near the town of Otavalo. Tours also include an additional day practicing alpine techniques on a glacier close to the refuge on Cayambe.

On summit day, the guides will lead and ensure your safety. Guides are also roped to their clients at all times. The climbing ratio for Cayambe is one guide to two clients. Should you wish to have a private guide, then please make a request in advance.
